Local Citation Building in London

Somewhere online, your business details are probably wrong: an old address, a number you no longer use, or a duplicate listing. We correct those listings first, then add your business to the platforms that matter, so customers and search engines see the same details everywhere.
Every listing is created in your business’s name, and you keep the logins.
The problem

How Business Details Go Wrong Online

Most inconsistent listings weren’t created by mistake. They build up as a business changes. Directories also copy data from each other, so one outdated record can spread to sites you’ve never heard of.
London businesses change these details more often than most: premises move, phone systems change, brands merge. Each change leaves older versions behind, and customers still find them.

What citations do

What Local Citations Do, and What They Don't

Local citations are mentions of your business name, address and phone number (NAP) on other websites, from map apps and directories to industry sites.
Google ranks local results on relevance, distance and prominence. Prominence is how well-known a business is, judged from information such as links and reviews. Accurate citations support that picture and confirm your details are genuine. They don’t replace a strong profile, good reviews or useful service pages.
Much of their value sits outside Google. Apple Maps answers searches on iPhone and Siri, Bing Places feeds Bing search, and some customers still find local firms through directories. A correct listing on each means the call reaches you, not a disconnected number.

Our approach

Clean-Up Comes Before Building

Adding new listings on top of wrong data spreads the problem further. So the work starts with what already exists.

1. Find every listing

We search for your business by name, address, phone number and past versions of each, including duplicates and listings you didn’t create.

2. Correct and consolidate

Wrong details are corrected to match your Google Business Profile, which acts as the master record. Duplicates are merged or removed where the platform allows.

3. Claim what's unclaimed

Listings nobody controls can be edited by anyone. Claiming them puts your details under your business’s control.

Where We Build Citations, and Where We Won't

A few dozen accurate listings on trusted platforms are worth more than hundreds of directory submissions. Every new citation has to earn its place.

Where we build

Where we won't

This is the main difference from low-cost citation packages, which are priced per listing and judged by volume.

Situations That Need Extra Care

Getting these wrong can do more harm than having no citations at all.

Service-area businesses

If customers don’t visit you, Google’s guidelines say your address should be hidden on your profile. Your citations need to follow the same approach, so platforms don’t contradict each other.

Virtual offices and co-working spaces

Google doesn’t accept a virtual office as a business location, and a co-working desk only qualifies with signage and staff present during opening hours. We check eligibility before building anything.

More than one location

Each branch needs its own consistent set of listings with its own local number. Mixed-up branch details are one of the most common causes of duplicates.

Call-tracking numbers

Different tracking numbers on different sites create conflicting details. We agree one consistent main number before any listing is built.
What to expect

Timing, Ownership and Reporting

Corrections and new listings are submitted in the first weeks. Each platform updates on its own schedule, so changes appear gradually rather than all at once.
Every listing is created in your business’s name. You receive a record of each one, with its status and login where the platform allows, so you’re never tied to us to keep them.
Each month we check for new errors, duplicates and unwanted edits, and report what changed.

FAQ

Questions About Citation Building

Usually a few dozen accurate listings: the main map platforms, the established UK directories and the sites relevant to your sector and area. Beyond that, extra listings add little.

Often, yes. Duplicates and listings for closed premises can usually be removed or marked as closed. Where a directory won’t delete a listing, we correct it instead.

Update your Google Business Profile first, then the same change goes out across your listings. On a plan, we handle this as part of monthly monitoring.

We use tools to find and monitor listings. Submissions are made manually, so every detail matches exactly.

Not necessarily. Every citation project starts with its own listing check. If the problem goes beyond your listings, a local SEO audit shows the wider picture.
